Floods leave a trail of destruction across Assam

Four more deaths in Assam on Thursday took the total number of those killed in floods this season to 91.

Over 28 lakh people in 26 of the state’s 33 districts have been affected by floods.

The floods have resulted from incessant rainfall over the past week leading to water levels rising in the Brahmaputra and its tributary, the Krishnai.

Over 90% of the Kaziranga National Park, home to the one-horned rhinoceros, is submerged and the official animal death count stands at 113, which includes 11 rhinos.
