Checking in: Unique Airbnb picks of the week

It may look like an ordinary apartment from the outside, but for $53 you can stay in a great nerd cave in Lisbon, Portugal.

The bedroom is decked out in Nintendo characters.

If you just want a night in after touring the city, the bedroom has an LCD TV with a Wii U, as well as two Nintendo 3DSes.

There’s also a shared living room. The apartment also has four other rooms listed on Airbnb.

It might be hard to leave this second bathroom.

If you’re more of a book nerd, this Bag End-inspired home in Orondo, Wash., looks like it was imagined by J.R.R Tolkien himself. The abode, which was modelled after Bilbo Baggins’ famous Hobbiton residence, can be reserved for $277 a night.

While those may not be the Misty Mountains, it certainly doesn’t sully the view.

You can just imagine Gandalf throwing the One Ring into the fire.

Who’s up for a game of chess?

The bed looks big enough for more than a hobbit.

There’s also a luxurious bathroom.

There’s another option for classic video game fans. This “Super Mario Land” in Tokyo can be home to you and two friends for $112 a night. The living room, seen here, is of course stocked with a Super Mario-themed gaming area.
