If you’re looking for an authentic prison experience, this old provincial jail in Dorchester, N.B., about 25 minutes from Moncton, is likely as close as you can get.
You can crash in these homey digs for $34 a night.
Don’t lose the key.
In total, there are six cells you can stay in.
They vary in their decor.
This could be the perfect opportunity to start a prison workout.
The jail still has some of its old security measures in place.
But if you need to escape, beautiful surroundings are waiting for you on the other side of its walls.
If you’re looking for a more European prison experience, this old police station, built in 1884, could be perfect for you.
The home in Utrecht, Netherlands, is available for $178 a night.
Here’s the converted kitchen.
It connects to the cells/bedrooms.
While the cells have been modernized, you can still find evidence of the local criminals and thieves who spent the night in the rooms.
Though they were built for prisoners, the cells don’t look like a bad place to rest your head.
I doubt the original tenants were afforded these kinds of luxuries.
Two of the cells have double beds.
Here’s the bathroom.
Which even boasts a soaker tub.
If you’d prefer more luxurious accommodations, this renovated cabin jail from the 1880s in Anaconda, Mont. is available for $208 a night.
The jailhouse is complete with its own saloon and dining hall.
The dining area boasts wood floors, high ceilings, a fireplace and has plenty of room for all your guests.
The cells aren’t too shabby either.
Each cell has at least a double bed and this one has a twin bunk.
Every cell also has their own bathroom.
