Puck Daddy - NHL

Sean Leahy mentioned this in the Headlines, but check out this sweet shootout move by Minnesota Wild prospect Jarod Palmer at the Wild's prospect development camp on Sunday. OK, maybe less "sweet" than "incredibly fortunate to have avoided the blooper reel":

According to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune, it was a happy accident:

Jarod Palmer had the most inventive shootout goal, swinging and missing on a Brian Rolston(notes)-like slapper. But instead of giving up on the puck, he scooped it up, faked and roofed a backhander.

I was right there. He did not swing and miss on purpose. He whiffed.

No word if Palmer ended his shootout attempt by saying "I meant to do that" in a Pee Wee Herman-esque voice.

Check out more about Jarod Palmer, a former Miami (Ohio) and a Minnesota native, on Hockey Wilderness.
