We'd like to give this Penguins fan the benefit of the doubt here, placing the blame on whoever did the lettering for this Evgeni Malkin ...er, "Maklin" sweater. If this were a No. 17 jersey, we could even make the case for simple dyslexia. Overall, we just feel sort of sad about the whole thing; what with this image finding its way to The Pensblog courtesy of readers Michael W. and J.S., who amended it with the declarative "FAIL" you see above.
This post does allow us to ponder one of hockey's eternal questions about sweater misspellings: If you screw up John Vanbiesbrouck's name on a jersey, is it an epic "FAIL" or is it completely understandable and, for most fans, undetectable?
