Young fan has best reaction to Paul Goldschmidt signing her baseball

Imagine that you’re a young baseball fan again, maybe 10 years old, and you’re at the stadium to see your favorite baseball team play a game. And now imagine that the best player on your favorite team takes a baseball from your hand, signs it and gives it back to you.

What would your reaction be? Would you shriek and jump up and down? Would you faint dead away? Without a time machine, it’s hard to know for sure.

But we know what the reaction of one young Arizona Diamondbacks fan would be, because she lived out this very scenario on Thursday. Before the Diamondbacks faced the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, first baseman Paul Goldschmidt decided to give out autographs to fans. And when Goldschmidt signed her baseball, this fan hit the happiness jackpot.

When Goldschmidt takes the ball from her hand, she can barely believe what’s happening. It looks like all the joy inside her has bubbled up and just frozen on her face. She is so happy in that moment. And it’s somehow more amazing in GIF form.

Goldschmidt didn’t disappoint her or any Diamondbacks fan on Thursday. Not only did he sign that baseball (and others) before the game, he went 3-for-5 in the game itself. Plus he hit a home run, his 18th of the season. But that’s what Paul Goldschmidt does best: hit baseballs, and paralyze fans with complete and utter joy.
