New York deals Lindpere to Chicago for international roster slot

The Chicago Fire have acquired Estonian midfielder Joel Lindpere from the New York Red Bulls, sending an international roster spot the other way in exchange.

The 31-year-old playmaker joined the Red Bulls from Norwegian side Tromso in 2010 and quickly became a fan favorite, making 97 appearances for the Red Bulls in his three seasons at Red Bull Arena, contributing 15 goals and 18 assists in that time. He was named the Red Bulls' MVP in 2010.

Lindpere has made 84 appearances for the Estonia national team, scoring five goals.
