Yoel Romero launches GoFundMe page for future opponent Michael Bisping's medical expenses

Talking trash has never been considered as UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero’s strong suit. But as he waits for his number to be called for a title fight against champion Michael Bisping, it appears that the Cuban-born Olympic silver medalist in wrestling took the time to brush up on his taunting skills.

Although he’s been named as Bisping’s opponent, no date has been set for their fight as the champion is currently recovering from a minor knee surgery. But if it is up to Romero, this won’t be the last time that The Count will find himself hospitalized. As a matter of fact, Romero was kind enough to launch a GoFundMe page in an effort to preemptively raise funds to help pay for Bisping’s medical expenses after Romero gets his hands on him.

As of press time, a little over $200 have been raised with a goal of $100k. The page has a message from Romero asking for money so Bisping can “rebuild his life’”

“This is Mike, he will be needing money to survive after me and him meet in the octagon approximately May of 2017. He is happy in this picture after defending his title against another fighter and the devastation he went through has caused him to have surgery on his knee where all the visible damage was on his face. This surgery has prevented him from competing in a timely manner. After his fight with me, I am convinced he will need this money to rebuild his life, he has a family and I am deeply concerned for him. Please help any way that you can as all funds will be used for medical expenses and his retirement party. Thank you for your time and #ynuevo”

This is the latest in Romero and Bisping’s back and forth. Bisping recently called the #1 contender a cheater after he tested positive for a banned substance last year. However, the positive test came from a tainted supplement and Romero’s potential two-year suspension was reduced to six months. This certainly won’t be the last time these two engage in a war of words as the official fight announcement awaits.
