Yahoo Sports ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-Off Prequel ‘1932’ Will Star Helen Mirren And Harrison Ford

Paramount+ announced Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford will star in a new Yellowstone prequel spin-off series, 1932.
1932 will focus on the Dutton family during the time of “West expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.”
The new series is set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ this December.
Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are going to be the newest cast members of Yellowstone’s Dutton family. As the fifth season of Yellowstone has begun filming in Montana, Paramount+ announced today that a new installment of the Dutton origin story is in the works. And better yet–Mirren and Ford are set to star in the new series, a prequel tentatively called 1932.
The series was announced in February and will be another one of Taylor Sheridan’s historical dramas.
“With Yellowstone, I had built out this back story of where the Dutton family came from. And with 1932 I chose that moment in time to peek back in because you’re seeing the children we’ve met in 1883 now attempting to raise another generation of Duttons in a time where the Wild West is becoming a playground for the elite from the East,” Sheridan said in a teaser video.
This new series comes after the latest spin-off called 1883, a one-off prequel starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, which followed John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner's) great grandfather James Dutton (McGraw) as he traveled west along the Oregon Trail with his wife Margaret Dutton (Hill).
What is 1932 about?
1932 will be the “next chapter of the Yellowstone origin story” and “will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of Western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression,” according to the show’s IMDB page.
According to a press release from the streaming service, “the next story will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plagued the Mountain West and the Duttons who call it home.”
For now, the streaming service hasn’t released any additional details about the show’s premise or characters, and both Mirren and Ford’s IMDB pages leave no hints as to when pre-production will even begin.
When will 1932 premiere?
The new show is set to be released exclusively on Paramount+ in December 2022, according to a press release.
In the meantime, fans can get ready to watch season five of the original Yellowstone series. Even though there were rumors that new episodes of season five would take a while to premiere, fans are still holding onto reports that season five of Yellowstone will premiere in late summer. Additionally, the newest season will be supersized, with 14 episodes, instead of the average 10 episodes, released in two, seven-episode drops.
That’s all we know for now, but we’re hoping Paramount+ will release the full cast and additional plot details of the newest Yellowstone spin-off!
