Yeah, Russell Westbrook, that's definitely a travel

If you’ve ever posted an NBA highlight to social media, you’ve probably heard from someone that the player traveled. In most cases, these people are correct by the letter of the law. Officials have liberalized their interpretation of traveling rules over several years, and that means players get a great deal of leeway on their way to taking a shot. Not everyone loves it, but it’s a fact of life.

However, taking a few steps without dribbling after collecting an inbound pass is still a great way to get whistled. Russell Westbrook learned that in hilarious fashion during the third quarter of Wednesday night’s game at the Golden State Warriors. Take a look:

This infraction was one of 10 turnovers for Westbrook, who hit that mark while also posting the positive kind of triple-double for the second time in four games. As ever, he remains a maximalist.

Unfortunately, this embarrassing travel came in the midst of a game-tilting run for Golden State. The Warriors and Thunder were tied at 66-66 at halftime, but a 37-22 third quarter helped the hosts coast to a 121-100 win.
