Yankees put RHP Billings on DL, call up Claiborne

The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Yankees have put right-hander Bruce Billings on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right forearm.

The Yankees recalled righty Preston Claiborne from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The move with Billings was retroactive to Saturday.

The 28-year-old Billings made his Yankees debut Friday night in relief during a 13-1 loss to the Angels. He struck out seven in four innings while giving up four runs.
