The outcomes are drastically different when New York Yankees starter Vidal Nuno pitches on the road compared to at home.

The Yankees have won all six of his career road starts heading into Sunday's outing against the AL-leading Oakland Athletics.

Nuno (1-2, 4.97 ERA) has made 13 career starts, with New York (35-32) losing six of seven at home as he has posted a 5.55 ERA. He's been a different pitcher on the road, going 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA including four Yankees victories this year.

The left-hander will face Oakland (41-27) for the second time after he gave up two runs over 4 2-3 innings and did not get a decision in a 7-4 defeat June 4, allowing a homer to Yoenis Cespedes.

Jesse Chavez (5-4, 3.04) picked up the victory that night, yielding four runs over six innings in his first career start versus New York. It marks his only win in a four-start stretch in which he has lost the other three outings and posted a 4.24 total ERA.

The right-hander, who enjoys a healthy 5.63 run support average, could face a weakened Yankees lineup.

That's because New York first baseman Mark Teixeira was scratched from Saturday's 5-1 loss because of tightness in his right rib cage. Second baseman Brian Roberts may miss a second straight game with a sore knee.

One hitter who will probably be back in the lineup is Carlos Beltran, who sat out Saturday. Beltran is 4 for 31 since he was activated off the disabled list June 5 for a contest against Oakland.

"I don't feel good right now, man," Beltran told the Yankees' official website. "It feels like some days I feel better, then the next day, back to not feeling good. It has to come."

A batter who could probably use a rest is Oakland third baseman Josh Donaldson, who is hitless in his last 31 at-bats and was ejected for arguing with plate umpire Hal Gibson in the seventh. Donaldson is second on the A's with 50 RBIs.

Second baseman Eric Sogard returned from a one-game absence due to a sore right ankle and provided all the offense the A's needed with a two-run single in the second inning. He also threw out Kelly Johnson at the plate in the fifth.

"That was my opportunity," Sogard told the team's official website. "My teammates got me in that position, and I was able to come through there."

Catcher Derek Norris got the night off but figures to be back in the lineup since he is hitting a team-best .364 against left-handers with a major league-high 20 RBIs. Another threat is Brandon Moss, who is batting .311 versus lefties although he struck out both times he faced Nuno earlier this month.

Oakland will become the latest team to honor retiring Yankees great Derek Jeter in a pregame ceremony, although the club said it would not include his famous 'flip play' from a 2001 division series in order not to upset fans. Jeter went 0 for 4 on Saturday after he had nine hits in his previous 16 at-bats.

Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury was 0 for 3, snapping his 17-game hitting streak.
