Tottenham Hotspur 4 West Bromwich Albion 0

Spurs kicked off the weekend’s action with a dominant victory West Brom at White Hart Lane where Harry Kane put in one of the most dominant Fantasy performances this season, his hat-trick drove him to a phenomenal 49.15 points – almost 20 more than the next best player in GW21. Kyle Walker lead Spurs’ defenders with 14.2, while midfielder Christian Eriksen scored 11.75. Victor Wanyama had one of his best Fantasy performances with 8.75. For West Brom, the less said the better, so to spare Gareth McAuley and co’s blushes, we’ll just leave it here.

Arsenal 4 Swansea 0

A popular match for Fantasy players with most of the big guns in action on Sunday, and Arsenal’s players repaid the faith. Usual suspect Alexis Sanchez top scored with 18.4 and strike partner Olivier Giroud scored 11.9 despite getting injured. Their defenders all scored well, with Petr Cech recording a healthy 14.5. However, their midfielders couldn’t get in on the act with only Granit Xhaka recording double figures (11.6) and the returning Mesut Ozil could only muster 5.1. For Swansea, Gylfi Sigurdsson continues to be their guiding light, top scoring once again with 6.9. Wayne Routledge was a surprise second place with 6.8.

Leicester City 0 Chelsea 3

For Chelsea the undoubted star is the popular Marcos Alonso – the defender’s two goals propelled him to a huge 31.3 points. Perhaps surpsingly, the only other Chelsea players to reach double figures were forward Pedro with 15 and goalkeeper Thibault Courtois with 13. There were healthy contributions from the entire defence, but Eden Hazard (£27) could only muster 5.8 points, while Michy Batshuayi couldn’t take advantage of Diego Costa’s absence with -0.2 points. For Leicester, forward Ahmed Musa top scored with 5.9 but striker partner Jamie Vardy scored -0.5 and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel returned -0.6.

Everton 4 Manchester City 0

The surprise of the round was Everton effectively ending City’s title bid. But just as surprising was the manner in which the Toffees won, and several players took advantage. Romelu Lukaku scored another goal to record 11.9 points, while midfielders Kevin Mirallas (14.9), Tom Davies (13.65) and Ross Barkley (8.3) as well as defender Seamus Coleman (8.8) all scored well. For just £10, Davies is a proving to be a good value budget option. New signing Morgan Schneiderlin didn’t have a great debut, returning -0.2 points. For City the damage was more severe, with only Yaya Toure and forwards Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling recording more than 8 points. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo had nothing short of a nightmare – he ‘scored’ a whopping -8 points, John Stones also didn’t have a great return to Goodison Park either, scoring 5.55 points.

Manchester United 1 Liverpool 1

The tight draw at Old Trafford meant big points were at a premium – only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (14.65) made it to double figures for the Red Devils. Defender Antonio Valencia was next best with 8.7, while popular selection Paul Pogba could only score a measly 2.3 points. It was a similar story for Liverpool, with only James Milner (16.3) returning double figures. Adam Lallana had a solid return in comparison to his teammates with 7.95, Emre Can and Gigi Wijnaldum both had solid returns, but Roberto Firmino’s poor run continued, only scoring 3.25.

West Ham United 3 Crystal Palace 0

In the absence of Dmitri Payet, the Hammers’ support cast stepped up against Palace. Midfielders Manuel Lanzini (14.3), Sofiane Feghouli (15.2) and Michail Antonio (16.3) all recorded double figures scores, as did goalkeeper Darren Randolph (11.5), while Andy Carroll‘s wonder striker helped him to 13.8 points. There was not much to write home about for Sam Allardyce’s men with Yohan Cabaye top scoring with 5.1 points, and Wayne Hennessy became the third goalkeeper this GW to record negative points, -6 was his score.

Hull City 3 Bournemouth 1

Hull’s win brought a smile to their supporters’ faces, as well as the small amount of Fantasy users who were lucky enough to pick them. Usual suspect Robert Snodgrass again scored well, recording 9.3 points, but he was outshone by goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic (9.5) and forward Abel Hernandez, whose whopping 25.7 points was enough to earn a place in Gameweek 21’s Dreamteam. For Bournemouth, midfielders Jack Wilshere (10.1) and Junior Stanislas (11) scored double figures but weren’t supported by enough of their teammates. Artur Boruc continued the theme of goalkeepers being a nightmare for Fantasy mangers – he was the fourth to score negative figures.

Burnley 1 Southampton 0

Oh how Bournemouth could have done with Burnley’s goalkeeper. Tom Heaton was the best stopper of GW 21 with 17.5 points – he was one of only two players to record double figures from either side at Turf Moor. The other was Joey Barton, whose goal just minutes after coming on saw him score 11.75 points – a marked improvement on his previous effort against Sunderland saw him score -5. For Saints, Virgil Van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand continued to record solid scores, scoring 7 and 6.7 points respectively, while Dusan Tadic top scored for them with 9.4.

Sunderland 1 Stoke City 3

Two players stole the show for Stoke, and they were forwards Marko Arnautovic (26.9) and Peter Crouch (21.5). Crouch scored his 99th Premier League goal and assisted Arnautovic for one of his two goals. Xherdan Shaqiri couldn’t quite get in on the act, but his 7.5 points was the next best. Meanwhile, Sunderland’s abject performance was matched by their Fantasy scores with only Jermain Defoe (12.7) and defender Donald Love (10.4) making it to double figures. Vito Mannone was the fifth goalkeeper to record negative points, returning -1.5.

Watford 0 Middlesbrough 0

Watford couldn’t channel what was an emotional day into a win, but several players did record solid Fantasy points. Defenders Sebastian Prodl, Younes Kaboul, Christain Kabasele, as well as midfielders Etienne Capoue and Abdoulaye Doucoure all scored more than 7 points. Their issue was forwards Troy Deeney and Stefano Okaka could only score 3.1 and 2.3 respectively. For Boro, goalkeeper Victor Valdes was outstanding, his 5 saves and a cleansheet contributing to his 15.5 point haul. Elsewhere, defender Fabio made the Dreamteam with 10.9 points, the next four top scorers for Boro were all defenders as well.
