X Games snowmobilers injured in crashes

Snowmobiler Caleb Moore was recovering Friday after undergoing surgery for a heart contusion that resulted from a crash at Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo.

Moore's snowmobile fell over him after he missed a backflip during the freestyle finals on Thursday night. He was unconscious for a time and evaluated for other injuries but walked away from the scene of the accident.

"While Caleb was being evaluated late last night, he developed bleeding around the heart and was urgently flighted to (a hospital in) Grand Junction," an X Games medical report stated. "He underwent surgery this morning. The procedure went well and Caleb is currently in ICU."

His brother, Colten Moore, also was injured during the event and was admitted overnight at Aspen Valley Hospital for treatment of a pelvis separation that won't require surgery.

Colten and Caleb Moore won gold and bronze, respectively, in the event final in 2012.

Another rider, Daniel Bodin, was treated for a left wrist injury after crashing Thursday night.
