Wrigley Field went insane after the Cubs won the World Series
So I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but the Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Awesome, right? And many, many other people agree. With Game 7 being played at Progressive Field in Cleveland, a ridiculous amount of fans gathered outside of Wrigley Field on Wednesday night to follow the game on their phones. That way they could be there to celebrate their team’s victory, or possibly weep and sob with other fans if the Cubs lost.

As you might expect, things got crazier from there. How much crazier? I’m so glad you asked. The twitter account Chicagoland Scanner kept everyone up-to-date on the legendary insanity that followed the Cubs legendary win.
CPD – Fans have breached the field at Wrigley, barriers broken. 23:55 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
At least they’re not playing any more games there this year, right?
CPD – Clark & Waveland – countless amount of people climbing the light poles now, about to fall down 23:58 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
No, no, no, don’t climb the light poles, that is NOT a good idea!
CPD – Clark & Addison – Multiple subjects just took a electric pole down and are carrying it down the street with live wires #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
Okay, uprooting a light pole and carrying it around with LIVE WIRES is NOT a better idea than climbing on one!
CPD – Clark & Addison – EMS needed for the guy who climbed up a pole and then fell down 00:45 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
Well, that was predictable. (I hope he’s okay.)
CPD – Clark & Addison – Multiple people ripping the roof off a box truck 00:50 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
Guys, that box truck doesn’t belong to you! And what are you going to do with that roof once you rip it off? You didn’t think that far ahead, did you!?
CPD – Clark & Addison -Another guy climbing a light pole 01:02 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
Haven’t we been over this!?
CPD – Clark & W Addison – Bucket truck driving down the street and people are jumping on it #ChicagoScanner 01:13
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
Well, at least they’re not ripping the roof off it. I have this image in my head of Cubs fans jumping into the actual buckets on the truck and just riding around in buckets, cheering. That’s probably not what happened.
CPD – 3800blk of Clark – Subjects are trying to force their way into the liquor store as they're trying to close 01:20 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
Haven’t you had enough to drink? Let that poor person close their store! It’s 1:20 a.m.!
CPD – Clark & Byron – Approx 300 people throwing bottles at each other now – 02:27 #ChicagoScanner
— Chicagoland Scanner (@CFGScanner) November 3, 2016
That’s not good. This has started to take on a distinct “Game of Thrones” battle vibe. But let’s go back to Wrigley Field itself.
There is apparently a naked man on the mound of wrigley field in Chicago #ChicagoScanner
— Ebowww (@Ebowww) November 3, 2016
Yeah, they’re gonna have to disinfect the mound after that. But hey, they have six whole months to do it.
