World Cup 2022: France and England look to advance to the quarters on Sunday

Can France and England join Argentina and the Netherlands in the quarterfinals?

The second day of Round of 16 games is upon us as the defending World Cup champions take on Poland and England plays Senegal. Both European giants are heavily favored at BetMGM. Will they both easily win?

France vs. Poland (over/under 2.5 goals)

10 a.m. ET, FS1

  • France to win (-300)

  • Poland to win (+775)

  • Regulation tie (+400)

Poland is going to try to counter attack on France as much as possible. The only team the Poles have looked dangerous against is Saudi Arabia. That’s probably not a good recipe for success against this France team. We’ll go with the under at +100 because we think France won’t be bothered at the back and will win 2-0.

England vs. Senegal (2.5)

2 p.m. ET, FS1

  • England to win (-190)

  • Senegal to win (+625)

  • Regulation tie (+280)

Oddsmakers are favoring the under here at -145 while the over is at +105. The over is tempting because Senegal can be dangerous even without Sadio Mane. England should still win the game, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this one had three goals or more. That said, we’ll play it safe with England.
