Woman charged with stalking, terroristic mischief for allegedly harassing Tony Stewart
A Florida woman is facing felony charges because of her conduct towards former Cup Series champion Tony Stewart.
Per WRTV 6 in Indianapolis, Kathi Russell has been charged with stalking, terroristic mischief and intimidation for trying to harass Stewart for more than a year. The harassment included “hundreds” of calls to people and businesses associated with Stewart and even some members of the media.
In some of the calls, according to the affidavit, nothing was heard on the line. In others, Russell allegedly played an audio clip saying, “We Came, we saw, he died” – a soundbite by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi – followed by “maniacal laughter.” In others, a clip from the Talking Heads song “Psycho Killer” would play.
Russell is also accused of placing an anonymous phone call reporting that a plane landing in Fort Worth, Texas, would be transporting narcotics. Investigators determined the plane was occupied by Stewart, and that the call was a false report that came from Russell.

There was even a protection order against the 68-year-old by Stewart’s mother regarding all of the alleged calls. The report says that, in September, Russell sent an envelope with a powdery substance to the Indianapolis Law Firm that had notified Russell of the protection order.
A spokesperson for Stewart declined comment to the station.
Stewart, who retired from the Cup Series at the end of the 2016 season, is the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing. Stewart was in attendance Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway as Kevin Harvick, one of his team’s drivers, raced for the title. Harvick finished fourth in the race, won by Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr.
