Jack Cichy, Wisconsin’s leading tackler, suffered a torn pectoral muscle Saturday in the win over Iowa. He will miss the rest of the season.

Cichy was injured late in the first half Saturday in Iowa City, but returned to play most of the second half before eventually coming out midway through the fourth quarter.

The injury to Cichy, who has 60 tackles on the year, is the latest in a slew of linebacker injuries for the 11th-ranked Badgers this season. Chris Orr suffered a season-ending knee injury in the season-opener versus LSU and Vince Biegel missed two games with a foot injury. Biegel returned in the 17-9 win over the Hawkeyes.

Cichy, a redshirt junior, began his career as a walk-on before earning a scholarship following a strong 2015 season, including a breakout performance in the Holiday Bowl win over USC in which he registered three sacks on consecutive plays. He was fifth on the team with 60 tackles.

The loss is a tough one for the stout Badgers defense heading into this weekend’s Big Ten West matchup against No. 7 Nebraska.

Nebraska, which improved to 7-0 with a 27-14 win over Purdue over the weekend, is expected to have its top receiver, senior Jordan Westerkamp, back for Saturday’s game at Camp Randall Stadium. Westerkamp, who has 13 catches for 228 yards and four touchdowns this season, was listed as a starter on the Huskers depth chart Monday. He missed the last two games with a back injury.
