Winnipeg Jets Aim to Stay Undefeated in Division Play When Taking on Nashville Predators

The Winnipeg Jets look to win their third straight game when they take on the Nashville Predators Saturday night. The Jets are coming off a decisive 4-1 win Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins and will look to accomplish the rare feat of winning both games of a road back-to-back.

The Predators have seen a far slower start than expected with a 6-11-3 record and three wins in their last ten games. Nashville was expected to do much better after making several big off-season signings in Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei.

The two Central Division rivals have a history of close games but the Jets have won six of their last nine matchups versus the Predators. Winnipeg has dominated teams in their division so far this season with an undefeated 6-0-0 record.

It's been an historic start to the season from the Jets and it starts with their defence that has been the best in the league for some time now with the best goals average in the league at 2.40 since last season.

They will likely start backup Eric Comrie, who has remained a solid option behind reigning Vezina trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck. Comrie has a 3-1-0 record with a 2.77 goals against average in four starts this season.

It's shown that they can win no matter who is in net as their offence is also elite with the best goals per game in the NHL at 4.20 due in large part to the stellar play from top line forwards Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele.

The duo have 25 goals combined over 20 games this season and it should be a big game for Scheifele. The 12-year veteran scored a hat trick against the Panthers on Tuesday and has four goals and ten assists for 15 points in his last nine games against Nashville.

The Predators are due for a bounceback game which makes them extra dangerous with Marchessault and breakout star from last season Luke Evangelista, both struggling to score with just five goals combined so far this season.

It'll make for an exciting showdown and you catch the game on Sportsnet at 6:00 PM MT, or catch the live broadcast on Power 97, the FM home of the Winnipeg Jets. If you are in the Nashville area, tickets are extremely reasonable for Jets versus the Preds with the lowest pair being sold at roughly $26 USD.
