Liam McGeary Wins Championship, Inks Long-Term Bellator Contract Extension

Less than a month after making history by becoming the first-ever British world champion in a major MMA organization, undefeated Liam McGeary (10-0) has signed a multi-fight, multi-year contract extension with Bellator MMA.

The seven-fight Bellator MMA veteran set a promotional record for most submission attempts (11) in a fight en route to defeating Emanuel Newton to win the Bellator light heavyweight championship at Bellator: The British Invasion on Feb 27.

The Renzo Gracie-trained fighter looks forward to defending his title against any and all challengers.

“I'm excited to have signed this contract extension with Bellator,” said the newly crowned champion. “I know that I've got a target on my back as Champion, but I've never been one to walk away from a fight. Whoever Scott Coker decides to put across the cage from me next, it doesn't matter. To me, their name might as well be ‘Victory No. 11′. I look forward to working with Coker and Spike TV for years to come.”
