West Virginia junior wide receiver Ka’Raun White’s season is over.

Coach Dana Holgorsen said Tuesday that White needs surgery after he suffered a broken bone in his lower leg and would be out for the final two games of the year. White got tangled up with an Iowa State defender during Saturday’s game and limped off the field.

“He broke a lower leg tibia or his fibula, I don’t know,” Holgorsen said during his Tuesday press conference. “It’s one that breaks and you have surgery and you cast it, and he’s out for six to eight weeks, so he’s done for the year.”

White, the younger brother of Chicago Bears and former West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White, is the team’s third-leading receiver in terms of yards with 48 catches for 583 yards and five touchdowns. Only Dalkiel Shorts (55) has more catches, though Shelton Gibson has 927 yards and eight touchdowns on just 40 catches.

The Mountaineers may have to lean on Gibson, Shorts and Javon Durante more in White’s absence. The four aforementioned wide receivers are the only four players with more than 100 receiving yards in 2016.

West Virginia faces Baylor on Saturday in what was viewed as a possible Big 12 championship game midway through the season as the two teams were 6-0. But while West Virginia has only fallen to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State (the two teams playing for the conference title Saturday), Baylor is in a freefall. The Bears are now 6-5 after losing to Texas Tech on Friday.
