West Ham told Sofyan Amrabat has no interest in joining as possible Declan Rice replacement

Sofyan Amrabat has no interest in joining West Ham this summer, according to his brother.

The Fiorentina midfielder impressed against the Hammers in the Europa Conference League final despite ending up on the losing side, and he enjoyed a superb World Cup for Morocco earlier this season.

It has led to Amrabat being linked with a move away from Fiorentina, with Liverpool put forward as a potential destination during the January transfer window and West Ham also reportedly interested.

With Declan Rice set to leave the club this summer, as confirmed by chairman David Sullivan, the Hammers are on the hunt for a replacement and Amrabat’s display in the final certainly caught the eye.

However, Sofyan’s brother Nordin, who spent more than two years at Watford, has dismissed the possibility of a move to West Ham, insisting the midfielder is capable of playing for one of the best clubs in the world.

“No, my brother wants to go to the top, and his desire is to play in Spain,” he told ESPN.

“A top 10 club in the world with a nice background would be realistic. After the World Cup, I know for sure that he is ready for it. At Barcelona, he is high on the list, but you know Barca’s financial situation.

“There are more clubs interested.”
