Javier Hernandez has completed his transfer to West Ham United.

The Mexico striker, 29, underwent his medical on Monday afternoon after arriving in London to put the finishing touches on a £16million deal from Bayer Leverkusen.

Hernandez, formerly of Manchester United, is expected to rank among the Hammers' top earners on around £100,000 a week and has signed a three-year contract.

He will now be tasked with firing the goals to send West Ham towards the European qualification places.

'Chicharito' (the Little Pea), as he is also known, scored 59 goals in 157 appearances for United between 2010 and 2014.

He then spent a season on loan at Real Madrid before joining Leverkusen on a permanent deal in 2015, impressing during his two seasons in the Bundesliga.

Slaven Bilic wants Hernandez to be the focal point of a revamped attack that includes club record signing Marko Arnautovic, Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini, the latter of which Standard Sport revealed earlier this summer is due to sign a new contract.

Hernandez is set to make his Hammers debut against his former side Manchester United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. That will pit him against Jose Mourinho, the manager who said he would never have sold Chicarito in the first place.

"Man Utd sold players that I would never sell, bought players that I would never buy," Mourinho said in March.

"I would never sell [Angel] Di Maria, Chicharito, Danny Welbeck. Never. No chance."
