Lille have rejected a €23million bid by West Ham for their Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana, according to reports.

The 20-year-old played 41 times across all competitions as his side reached the last 16 of the Champions League and finished 10th in Ligue 1.

According to The Athletic, West Ham have had a €23m for Onana turned down by Lille, who insist the player is not for sale.

The player joined from Hamburg in 2021 and still has four years left on his contract, leaving the French club in a strong position.

He has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The report adds that West Ham are contemplating whether to make an improved bid.

The Hammers have made two summer signings so far, bringing in Nayef Aguerd from Rennes for around £30m and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola following his loan spell at the London Stadium last term.

They are also interested in signing Jesse Lingard on a free transfer. The England midfielder recently left Manchester United following the expiry of his contract.

West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Tottenham have all been linked with the 29-year-old, though it is believed he has no intention of joining the Toffees. He sees a move to Goodison Park as a ‘last resort’.

Lingard enjoyed a successful loan spell at the London Stadium during the 2020/21 campaign, providing nine goals and four assists in 16 appearances.

Elsewhere, Manchester United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Christian Eriksen over a move to Old Trafford.

The Danish playmaker returned to the Premier League in January following his collapse on the pitch at Euro 2020 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

His fine form for Brentford has persuaded United to bring the 30-year-old in on a free transfer.

The Athletic claim Eriksen has told the Red Devils he wants to join them and is happy to accept their offer of a three-year deal.
