Welcome back angry, swearing Tortorella after questionable OT call (Video)

Stop us if you’ve heard this before – John Tortorella is mad.

His Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 in overtime. The game winning goal by Alex Galchenyuk came on the power play.

As the Jackets left the ice, the new, zen-like Torts evaporated into the seething rage monster we’ve become accustomed to over the years.

He started to walk off the ice to get to the locker room, as you have to do in Montreal, and veered off when seeing the officials. Torts immediately laid into him with colorful adjectives regarding the penalty.

NSFW lip reading below:

Fun fact! Tort’s favorite emoji pairing:

He was pulled back by his assistant and players before he got himself into anymore trouble. Tortorella was not given a penalty for abuse of an official at the time. Who knows if the NHL will slap him with a fine for his outburst.

The good news is that he did not storm off to the Canadiens locker room and try to fight Claude Julien or Markov a la his attempted hallway brawl in Calgary (#neverforget).

Let’s look at the penalty itself because he has a valid point of contention. Seth Jones is whistled for holding Andrei Markov.

From @1stOhioBattery:

Yeaaaah. That’s marginal at best. It could factor in to if the NHL decides to go easy on Torts in the aftermath. But then again this is the No Hockey Logic league.

The point gained by Columbus ties them with the Pittsburgh Penguins at 84 points in the standings; Pittsburgh lost tonight to the Dallas Stars. The Blue Jackets own the tie breaker right now with 37 ROW to the Penguins 36.
