The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll is . . .

Lila Klein of Harris County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

Klein is a freshman on Harris County’s cross country team. She finished 10th in the sectional race and 16th at the state championships with a time of 20:13, leading the Tigers to second place in Class AAAA of the Georgia High School Association.

“She exemplifies good sportsmanship and maintains a positive attitude,” coach Rachel Rondon said in an email to the Ledger-Enquirer.

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s three nominees, Klein received 60% of the 17,969 votes from our readers. Voting started Tuesday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
