Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

Through seven weeks this season, the Rams (33.6), Chiefs (37.1) and Saints (34.0) all rank top-10 historically in points per game. The 2000 St. Louis Rams (whom the Saints are outscoring this year, mind you) have the NFL record with 442.2 yards per game. The Los Angeles Rams are getting 445.3 (and that was after a modest 331 on Sunday). It’s not as obvious from a historical perspective in today’s game and with two other teams scoring at a similar pace, but this Rams offense is special and only getting better. If the league were holding a draft today, Sean McVay might be the first overall pick. The new rules aren’t perfect, but the NFL has never been more entertaining, and I’m loving it.

Todd Gurley ran for just 63 yards but added three more scores (including catching one in the fourth quarter to put the Rams up nearly 30), putting him on pace to record an NFL-record 32 touchdowns this season. He’s been worth his draft price so far…Aaron Donald recorded four sacks and was living in the 49ers’ backfield…Matt Breida lost a fumble and left injured again. Raheem Mostert could definitely prove valuable down the stretch and needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues. He ran a 4.42 40 (95th percentile), saw four targets Sunday, and could soon be the main back in a Kyle Shanahan-system (albeit one that’s committed the most turnovers in the NFL this season). The 49ers are a mess, but they do have a favorable upcoming schedule (@Ari, Oak, NYG, @TB).

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs continued their offensive explosion, scoring 45 points before easing off for the final 13 minutes (including passing up a late short FG that would’ve made the over hit), putting them right on pace (37.1 ppg) to challenge the Broncos’ 2013 scoring record (37.9). Making just his third career home start, Patrick Mahomes had another huge game, throwing for 358 yards and four scores (adding 45 rushing yards). He now has the most passing yards and TD passes over the first eight starts of a career in NFL history…Kareem Hunt scored three touchdowns and saw six targets for the second week in a row. He has 160 receiving yards over the last two games after totaling 66 during the first five contests of the season and was fantastic Sunday night. Hunt’s upside is through the roof with that usage in this possibly record-setting offense…Andy Dalton, Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd were massive busts in an incredibly favorable matchup.

Tennessee Titans vs. Los Angeles Chargers

A poor game script hurt Austin Ekeler during his brief role as feature back, as Tennessee dominated time of possession. He’d remain a must-start any week in which Melvin Gordon is out…Dion Lewis had his best game with the Titans, but Corey Davis continues to get overwhelmed by tough corners…Tyrell and Mike Williams are now up to eight combined touchdowns on the year while Keenan Allen is stuck on one…Philip Rivers is killing it, and Mike Vrabel gave London a thrilling finish by going for two instead of playing for overtime late.

New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears

This game was wild and featured two New England special teams touchdowns and unfortunately a serious-looking knee injury to Sony Michel. I’d be willing to spend my FAAB aggressively on Kenjon Barner this week…Over the last three games, Mitchell Trubisky has averaged 334.3 passing yards and 60.3 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns. He even completed this miraculous Hail Mary that fell just short SundayJosh Gordon had 100 yards and was tackled just shy of a score. Big things remain ahead.

Buffalo Bills vs. Indianapolis Colts

Derek Anderson committed/took more turnovers/sacks (six) than the Bills scored points (five), and LeSean McCoy left injured. Buffalo gets the Patriots next in Week 8 if you’re lucky enough to have New England’s defense…T.Y. Hilton had just four targets in a face-off against Tre’Davious White but caught two short scores, while Erik “Swooped” a TD from Eric EbronMarlon Mack totaled 159 yards with two touchdowns and can absolutely be an RB1 down the stretch given his situation and the current RB landscape.

Detroit Lions vs. Miami Dolphins

Kerryon Johnson ran for 158 yards on 19 carries (and predictably lost a goal-line TD to LeGarrette Blount), and it looks like only opportunity can stop him from being a star. He’s really fun to watch…Michael Roberts led Detroit receivers in yards and caught both of the team’s scores (Kenny Golladay had a TD called back), while Brock Osweiler has gotten 8.3 YPA with five TD passes over the last two weeks, further highlighting the year of the passer.

Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Jets

Both teams struggled passing through tough wind conditions, although Adam Thielen managed to tie the NFL record with his seventh straight 100-yard effort to start the season…Minnesota is run-blocking better, which will benefit Latavius Murray, while Jermaine Kearse somehow saw just two targets (no catches) with Quincy Enunwa out against a Minnesota secondary most vulnerable to the slot…Robby Anderson led all receivers in Air Yards (219) in Week 7. If only Sam Darnold were a little more accurate.

Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Panthers came back and won despite being down 17-0 with around 10 minutes left, as Cam Newton tossed two late TDs to salvage a fantasy day that was looking lost. Christian McCaffrey was held to just 29 rushing yards and he gets a tough matchup with Baltimore next week…Zach Ertz is a machine (last week’s nine targets are a season-low), while Corey Clement failed to emerge as hoped…The Eagles have lost more games this season than they did all of last year.

Cleveland Browns vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A safety and missed extra point helped the Browns play their fourth overtime game of the season, this time losing thanks to a 59-yard field goal…Jameis Winston led the Bucs in rushing and completed a pass to nine different Bucs before DeSean Jackson caught his first ball of the day in OT, while O.J. Howard saw nine targets (Cameron Brate saw just four and lost a fumble). Howard is going to be huge down the stretch in this offense, and I’d treat him as a borderline top-five tight end. Nick Chubb got off to a slow start but otherwise looked good as expected. He passes the eye test, scored in the 98th percentile in SPARQ-x and should be considered an RB1 moving forward…Jarvis Landry led Josh Hermsmeyer’s predictive WOPR stat in Week 7 by a significant margin and made a really nice play to score late.

Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

I liked Jacksonville’s setup for this game and couldn’t have been more wrong, as Blake Bortles was benched for Cody Kessler in an ugly home loss to the Texans, who’ve now somehow won four straight after starting 0-2. Lamar Miller had his first 100-yard rushing game since 2016, and a clearly hobbled Deshaun Watson was sacked just once after entering having taken the most in the NFL. The Jaguars go into their bye in serious trouble, and I don’t think Carlos Hyde can save them…DeAndre Hopkins made a sick one-handed grab.

New Orleans Saints vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Saints went for it on fourth down four times on the opening drive alone and scored 17 fourth quarter points on the road against a Ravens defense that hadn’t given up a touchdown in the second half of a game this year. It was an impressive New Orleans win, albeit aided by the first missed extra point of Justin Tucker’s career…John Brown smoked New Orleans’ secondary for 134 yards with a TD and continues to go down as one of draft day’s biggest steals.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins

Dallas fell to 0-4 on the road thanks in part to Brett Maher missing a 52-yard FG attempt at the buzzer that would’ve been good, if not for a previous false start penalty. Alex Smith has now averaged just 187 passing yards during Washington’s last three wins…Ezekiel Elliott had a rare game in which he was shut down, while Adrian Peterson ran hard through injuries…Dallas now heads to its bye, and Amari Cooper makes for an inviting trade candidate.
