Week 5 Fantasy Football Bad Beats: Ekeler fails to do a Westbrook

Speaking of Week 5, some massive fantasy outings flipped matchups all the way through to Monday Night Football. One of those headlining performances was delivered by none other than Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, who dropped 119 total yards and three touchdowns on the Browns.

If it was up to him, however, he might've had a slightly less impactful day.

Let's backtrack a bit. Remember a few years ago, when Brian Westbrook had a clean lane to run into the end zone but instead stopped short in order to secure his team's victory and run out the clock? Fantasy players the world over felt scorned.

Ekeler tried to do the same thing on Sunday — TWICE. It worked the first time, but Cleveland's defense took matters into their own hands the second time, quite literally tossing Ekeler into the end zone for the score — and flipping fantasy matchups in the process. In fact, 8.7 percent of fantasy managers who won starting Ekeler in Week 5, only WON because of that third touchdown; now imagine how their opponents must feel.
