Weber State players shave heads for coach's wife fighting cancer
Sara Hill, wife of Weber State head coach Jay Hill, began chemotherapy this week after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in early August, but she didn’t the start the journey alone.
Hill decided to shave her head in preparation for the treatment and the entire Weber State football program decided to shave their heads in unity.

“I’m not worried about my hair being gone, I will channel my inner G.I. Jane BUT I did NOT want to be in my bathroom by myself shaving it all off. So I asked them for a party. Last night was perfect!! The love and support I felt was AMAZING!!,” Sara Hill said in a Facebook post Wednesday.
According to Sara Hill’s blog, she initially found a lump on her back in February. The lump turned out to be a fatty benign tumor, which she had removed. However, months later she started having pains in her chests, which doctors determined was a torn pectoral muscle. Then she found a tender, ping-pong ball-sized lump in her armpit, which revealed the Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“I am a fighter and I am strong,” Sara Hill wrote in her blog. “There are going to be some rough days ahead but both Jay and I know that we are so lucky to be where we are with a wonderful ward, neighborhood, friends, family and football family that will make the process much easier. We have been watched over and so much over the past 2.5 years has been artfully designed by our loving Heavenly Father. We are filled with peace and love.”
Jay Hill, a former Utah assistant, is in his third year with the Wildcats.
