Looking barely different from the last time they broadcast from Wayne's parents' basement, Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar returned over the weekend.

The occasion was a Super Bowl ad for Uber Eats, with the pair back in Aurora, Illinois, and discussing the lameness of 2020.

“2020 was a great year...NOT!” notes Wayne.

“It sucked donkey,” Garth adds, slipping back into his huge, tousled blond wig as seamlessly as he did back in 1992.

Throughout the ad, the pair make winking references to the 'big game' and the 'gigantic bowl', with the phrase Super Bowl being heavily protected by copyright, and only useable after handing over substantial fees to the NFL.

The pair reunited before Christmas, along with other stars from the Wayne's World movies, for Josh Gad's charity Reunited Apart series of webcasts.

They were joined by Tia Carrere (Cassandra), Rob Lowe (Benjamin Kane), Ed O'Neill (Glen), Lara Flynn Boyle (Stacy), as well as the legendary Alice Cooper.

The new ad was released on US networks on Saturday night, ahead of the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs on 7 February.

The Super Bowl is usually one of the biggest platforms of the year for new movie trailers, but with the coronavirus pandemic shuttering cinemas and delaying movies, it's not expected to be the major staging ground it usually is.

That said, it's hoped we might catch some glimpses of some forthcoming Marvel streaming projects, like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Loki, plus a possible first look at Spider-Man 3.
