Watford vs West Ham | Premier League | Vicarage Road | 4pm | Sunday, 19 November 2017

David Moyes begins his reign as West Ham manager against Watford this afternoon with a mandate to steer the club away from the relegation zone.

A 4-1 home loss to Liverpool led to Slaven Bilic's sacking and the former Everton and Manchester United manager was quickly hired despite a backlash from a section of the support.

Watford have not picked up a point since beating Arsenal, defeats to Chelsea, Stoke and Everton, as the club have dropped from fourth to ninth and Marco Silva will be wary of any new manager bounce from the Hammers.

What they said

David Moyes: "I could talk about winning manager of the year three times in a row, I could talk about getting the biggest job in the world or I could talk about being one of the only British managers who has ever had a job in Spain.

"Now it's time to talk about what's coming next. And I've got Watford. I've got to try and get a team ready and prepared, who can put on a show and get us a result."

Away manager: "We know the players and team very well, but it's their first match with a new coach.

"We know David Moyes, and what he normally did at other clubs, but he can change everything: it's the first game. We respect that, and that the individual players have a lot of quality, but need to keep focused."
