Watch: D-II announcer's wild buzzer-beater call features plea for forgiveness and... chickens!

“Yes! Yes! Yes!

“Oh my goodness, Yes! Yes! Yes!”

That was the reaction of Tommy Jenkins, the play-by-play announcer on the call of Monday evening’s Division-II basketball game between Young Harris College and the University of Montevallo, when Young Harris guard C.J. Wilson drilled a three-quarter-court buzzer-beater to send the game to overtime:

“Forgive me lord, I counted my chickens before they hatched!”

Young Harris went on to lose the game, but Jenkins’ unabashed enthusiasm, accentuated by his Southern drawl, makes this an early candidate for call of the year.
