Washington's Junior Galette tears his Achilles, out for season (again)

Outside linebacker Junior Galette missed his first season with the Washington Redskins last year after tearing his Achilles tendon during training camp.

Defensive end Junior Galette will miss his second season with the Washington Redskins this year after tearing his Achilles tendon.

The news, first reported by NFL Network’s Rand Getlin, was hinted at by Galette on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon in a post showing him working on pass-rush moves:

ProFootballTalk reports that Galette didn’t re-tear the Achilles he hurt last year; this time it is his other one, in his right leg.

Despite Galette missing all of last year, Washington re-signed him to another one-year deal earlier this year, with a max value of $4.1 million.

Undrafted out of Temple in 2010 and signed by the New Orleans Saints, Galette signed a six year, $41.5 million deal with the team on the eve of the 2014 season, but was released less than a year later due to a series of off-field issues, including an allegation of domestic violence in January 2015 (those criminal charges were later dismissed) and a 2013 video that surfaced, showing Galette on a beach, swinging his belt and hitting a woman and getting in a fight with a man.
