Washington State scored one of the wackiest touchdowns you'll ever see
One of the most bizarre plays you will ever see happened in the first half of the Arizona vs. Washington State game.
After extending its least to 34-14 midway through the second quarter, No. 8 Washington State kicked off back to Arizona. That’s when disaster struck for the Wildcats.
Looking to avoid a big return, Wazzu’s Jack Crane kicked it high and short in a spot that was tough for Arizona to field. The ball landed inside the 25 out of the reach of returner Cedric Peterson. From there, the ball took a bad bounce and went past Peterson. The ball was live, and WSU’s Dezmon Patton tried to fall on it, only to knock the ball further toward the end zone.
Peterson had a shot to fall on it to avoid the turnover, but he couldn’t corral the ball either. When the dust finally settled, it was Washington State’s Kainoa Wilson who was finally able to fall on the ball for a touchdown.
What a wild play.
Wilson’s recovery increased the lead to 41-14 for the Cougars.
Washington State went on to win 69-28 and will face rival Washington for the Pac-12 North crown in the Apple Cup next week. Washington State’s College Football Playoff chances will be on the line in that one, too.
