Walmart may have an edge on Amazon, CVS debuts new system for cheap drugs, Spotify reportedly wants to give customers more options

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you.

It looks like Walmart (WMT) may beat Amazon (AMZN) in the battle for India’s Flipkart. Both are said to be bidding for a controlling stake in the e-commerce giant but Flipkart is reportedly leaning towards making a deal with Walmart because it’s more likely to pass muster with regulators.

CVS (CVS) is making it easier to get cheaper drugs. The pharmacy is debuting a system that will check less expensive alternatives for you. CVS says this will allow customers to keep up with prescriptions by giving them higher quantities at lower costs and discounts. The tool will first be available to people using CVS’s pharmacy benefit manager, Caremark.

Spotify (SPOT) wants to give its free users a more premium experience. Bloomberg reports the streaming service is developing a new mobile version of its free account that would let listeners access playlists faster and have increased control over the songs they listen to.

Apple (AAPL) may be writing a big check to VirnetX Holding Corp. A federal jury is ordering the tech giant to pay just over $500M. It ruled its FaceTime, VPN on Demand and iMessage features infringed on the comany’s patents. But Bloomberg says the win for VirnetX may be short-lived because the patents are invalid.
