Voting is now open for The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (May 22 to 27) in spring high school sports. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.

The poll is located at the bottom of the story. You can read about all of the candidates and their accomplishments below.

Kaden Ausen, White River golf — Shot a 143 (73-70) at the 2A state golf championship at Liberty Lake Golf Course to tie for fourth place.

JJ Bordeaux, Bellarmine Prep golf — Shot a 6-under 138, including a first round 66, to take second place at the 4A state golf tournament at the Creek at Qualchan in Spokane.

Jacob Bresnahan, Sumner baseball — Pitched a complete seven-inning game in 5-1 win over Puyallup in 4A state tournament semifinal, giving up three hits and striking out nine.

Annabelle Clapp, Tumwater track and field — Won the 2A girls 400 (59.1) and ran legs of the T-Birds’ winning 4x200 relay (1:43.55) and 4x400 relay (4:02.4). Tumwater won the 2A girls team title for a second consecutive season.

Malia Coit, Peninsula softball — Hit three home runs and tallied seven runs scored and six RBI in wins over Juanita, Gig Harbor, Roosevelt and Snohomish during the Seahawks’ 3A state championship run.

Alexis Cruz-Hernandez, Puyallup soccer — Made the lone penalty kick save in Puyallup’s penalty kick shootout win over Davis in the 4A state tournament semifinals.

Wilson Dicks, Annie Wright golf — Shot a 7-over 149 to take third at the 1A state golf championship at Riverside Golf Club in Chehalis.

Coleman Farmer, Puyallup soccer — Scored the game-tying goal, forcing overtime in Puyallup’s penalty kick shootout win over Davis in the 4A state tournament semifinals.

Trenton Gaither, Tumwater baseball — Pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing one run on one hit, five walks and eight strikeouts in 2-1 win over Lynden in 2A state championship game.

JaiCieonna Gero-Holt, Emerald Ridge track and field — Repeated as 4A girls state champion in the 100 hurdles (14.45) and high jump (5-10), won the javelin (139-3) and placed second in the long jump (18-11 1/4). Emerald Ridge won the 4A girls team title.

Roman Hutchinson, Federal Way track and field — Won the 4A boys long jump (23-9) and triple jump (47-7 1/4), and ran a leg of the Eagles’ third-place 4x100 relay (42.33). Federal Way won the 4A boys team title.

Makenna Kelpman, Sound Christian golf — Carded a tournament-best 75, after a first-day 77, to win the 1B/2B girls state golf title at the Tumwater Valley Golf Club.

Alli Kimball, Peninsula softball — Tossed complete games in all four contests during the Seahawks’ 3A state championship run, striking out 40 batters across 28 innings. Also hit 8-for-12 with two runs scored, a double, two home runs and 10 RBI in the wins over Juanita, Gig Harbor, Roosevelt and Snohomish to lead Peninsula to the first title in program history.

Lauryn Krick, Puyallup softball — Tossed 30 innings — including two complete games — during the Vikings’ run to a third-place trophy at the 4A state tournament, striking out 30. Also hit 8-for-20 with eight runs scored, four doubles, three home runs 16 RBI and a stolen base during Puyallup’s six tournament games.

Lexie Mahler, White River golf — Shot a 6-over 150 to take third place at the 2A state golf championship at MeadowWood Golf Course.

Brock Maulding, Sumner golf — Carded a 140 (71-69) to tie for third place at the 4A state golf tournament at the Creek at Qualchan in Spokane.

Hana Moll, Capital track and field — Won the 3A girls pole vault with an overall state meet record 14-7, and ran legs of the Cougars’ winning 4x100 relay (48.13) and 4x200 relay (1:42.54).

Lucia Moravek, Bellarmine tennis — Took second place in the 4A girls singles tennis tournament in Kennewick.

Brayden Oram, Tumwater baseball — Had the game-winning walk-off hit in the seventh inning of Tumwater’s 2-1 win over Lynden in the 2A state championship game, sealing back-to-back state titles for the T-Birds.

Sam Plocher, Evergreen Lutheran track and field — Repeated as 1B boys state champion in both the 110 hurdles (14.72), setting a 1B state meet record, and 300 hurdles (39.87). Also placed second in the high jump (6-6) and ran a leg of the Eagles’ 4x400 relay (3:42.36), which placed fifth. Evergreen Lutheran tied for the 1B boys team title.

Vasanth Ramachandran, Bellarmine tennis — Took second place in the 4A state boys singles tennis tournament in Kennewick.

Trevontay Smith, Yelm track and field — Repeated as 3A boys state champion in the triple jump, setting a 3A state meet record at 50-4 1/2. Also placed second in the long jump (22-4). Yelm won the 3A boys team title.

Ryan Takeshita, Sumner golf — Shot a 7-under 137 to win the 4A individual golf title at the Creek at Qualchan in Spokane, leading the Spartans to the 4A team title.

Sarah Wright, Kentwood softball — Tossed a one-hit, complete game shutout of Emerald Ridge in the 4A state first round and a two-hit, complete game shutout of Bothell in the quarterfinals to lead Kentwood to the 4A state semifinals. Also tossed a complete game against Glacier Peak in the semifinals, allowing one earned run on four hits. Struck out 35 batters across 20 innings in the three games. Also tallied a home run, RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases during Kentwood’s four-game tournament run.
