Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to make major league debut Friday

Finally the wait is over.

Vladimir Guerrero will be officially called up by the Toronto Blue Jays and make his major league debut on Friday against the Oakland Athletics.

Manager Charlie Montoyo made the news official in his post game press conference following the Blue Jays game on Wednesday afternoon.

All eyes will be on Guerrero on Friday, as the consensus top prospect in baseball will make his debut.

The son of Hall of Fame outfielder Vladimir Guerrero, Vladdy Jr. has done nothing but absolutely destroy minor league pitching at every single stop of his career so far. He came into Wednesday hitting .331/.414/.529 across all four minor league levels he played in, smashing 43 home runs and 208 RBI over the course of 287 games.

He even added a home run Wednesday morning in his first game at Triple-A just to hammer home the point.

Guerrero Jr.’s eventual arrival at the major league level has been anticipated for months, with questions about service time and defensive progression and a late spring oblique injury only shifting the conversation from “if” to “when.”

Now that the announcement is official and the date has been set, there’s only one thing left to do, and that’s watch him take a major league field and show the world the skills that make this the most highly anticipated debut in Blue Jays history.
