Vikings' Stefon Diggs: 'I never said I was unhappy or uncomfortable with my role'

Things have calmed down for the Minnesota Vikings after last week’s drama explosion. Time and winning certainly helped. And now that things seem to be back on track, wide receiver Stefon Diggs tried to add a little clarity to his original comments from last week.

After Week 4, in which the Vikings had been embarrassingly beaten by the Chicago Bears, it wasn’t hard to see where Diggs’ frustration was coming from. He missed several team meetings and practices in the lead up to Week 5, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, his teammates questioned whether he still wanted to be there.

They weren’t the only ones. Rumors began flying that Diggs had requested a trade, and when reporters asked him if he had, in fact, requested a trade, his answer was cryptic.

"I feel like there's truth to all rumors, regardless on what it is -- good or bad. I can't say what's real and what's not."

Diggs was eventually fined $200,000 for the unexcused absences, but did play on Sunday. He wasn’t a factor in the Vikings’ 28-10 win over the New York Giants, though he made three catches for 44 yards. After the game, he told reporters that he did want to be in Minnesota.

Diggs’ comments on Wednesday (as well as what he said on Sunday) are likely influenced by the Vikings winning a game and Kirk Cousins looking like an NFL quarterback instead of some guy who wandered in off the street and accidentally started taking snaps. We’ll see how the Vikings do in Week 6 against a revitalized Philadelphia Eagles, and how Diggs’ mood is after the result of that game.
