Yahoo Sports Vic Beasley finally reports to Titans, faces $500,000 fine for unexcused absence
Tennessee Titans pass rusher Vic Beasley has finally reported to camp. After 10 days away from the team, Beasley — who signed with the Titans in the offseason — showed up to camp presumably ready to play in 2020.
Beasley, 28, drew criticism in July when he didn’t show up as the Titans began training camp. Titans general manager Jon Robinson eventually spoke to Beasley, who said he would report to the team soon. Robinson, however, noted that Beasley’s absence was unexcused.
Vic Beasley faces $500,000 fine from Titans
Because of that, Beasley faces a $500,000 fine from the team. The penalty for not reporting to camp is $50,000 per day. Beasley missed 10 days of camp, running his fine to $500,000. Beasley signed a one-year, $9.5 million deal with the Titans in the offseason. Beasley has not discussed the reason for his absence.
Vic Beasley can’t practice with Titans yet
While Beasley has reported, he’s not able to practice with the Titans just yet. Beasley will have to go through coronavirus testing before that can happen. If Beasley tests negative, he will be eligible to officially practice with the team. The Titans’ first practice is set for Aug. 14.
Beasley comes to the Titans after spending his first five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Beasley — a first-round draft pick — was named to the All Pro team during his second season after leading the league with 15.5 sacks. In his last three seasons combined, Beasley has 18 sacks.
