Vendor asking $11,000 for Habs playoff ticket

Some ticket scalpers and other Habs ticket-holders are looking to capitalize on the Montreal Canadiens' playoff series momentum by asking for outrageous ticket resale prices.

Hockey fans navigating over to the Montreal Canadiens' official ticketing site will be disappointed to learn no tickets are available. Tickets issued by the Bell Centre to tonight's game started at $72 in the nosebleeds and topped out at $434 — including service fees.

But elsewhere online is another story.

On StubHub.com, a website where people can buy and sell sporting and other event tickets, the ticket prices start around $160 for a single seat in the Molson Ex section (400-level) of the Bell Centre.

One vendor using StubHub.com is attempting to sell two tickets for $11,002 US — each.

On Kijiji and Craigslist, prices vary — although the asking prices for pairs of tickets in the red and Desjardins sections routinely hover between $600 and $700.

Quebec's consumer protection office has rules for ticket brokerage companies that resell event tickets, but there is no law in the province concerning ticket sales between individuals.
