USA midfielder Jones eyes another Champions League win over Arsenal

One win over Arsenal was enough to put Schalke in the driver's seat of its UEFA Champions League group. With another, USA midfielder Jermaine Jones and his German side will practically be able to taste the knockout stage.

After topping the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium in the most recent Champions League matchday, Jones and Schalke will be gunning for a sweep at their own Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday, with another three points fortifying Schalke's place atop the Group B table. The Bundesliga outfit currently owns a one-point edge over Arsenal on the strength of that 2-0 victory in London, and Jones is eyeing another win to gain some separation from his side's top competitor.

"Sure, we want to win again against Arsenal, and we will do everything for it," Jones told Goal.com Germany. "We will see if that was enough at the end. We know that it will be a very hard game."

Jones came on as a halftime substitute at the Emirates on Oct. 24, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Ibrahim Afellay scoring the second-half goals that delivered the impressive road result. That put Schalke in prime position to match its feat accomplished in the 2010-11 Champions League, when it won Group B with a 4-1-1 mark in the group stage.

With games remaining against Greek foe Olympiakos and reigning French champion Montepellier, which held Schalke to a draw in their earlier meeting, Jones is well aware of the potential spoils at hand Tuesday if Schalke can put together another victorious 90 minutes.

"We want to be the first or the second team in this group to qualify for the next round," Jones said. "We will fight for this."
