Urijah Faber Takes on Surging Jimmie Rivera at UFC 203

Perennial contender Urijah Faber (33-9) takes on surging bantamweight Jimmie Rivera (19-1) at UFC 203 on S ept. 10 in Cleveland. UFC officials announced the matchup on Tuesday.

Faber hopes to rebound from his UFC 199 loss to champion Dominick Cruz. “The California Kid” has only lost one non-title fight in his 13-year mixed martial arts career. Ranked No. 2 in the 135-pound division, Faber plans to retain his contender status when he faces the rising Rivera at Quicken Loans Arena.

Rivera is riding an 18-fight winning streak. The 27-year-old has won his first three fights inside the Octagon and plans to keep the streak alive at UFC 203. Ranked at No. 14 in the bantamweight division, Faber will be the toughest test of the New Jersey native's career.

UFC 203 will be the first event the UFC has held in Cleveland. Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic puts his title on the line for the first time against Alistair Overeem in the fight card's main event. Former WWE champion and professional wrestling superstar CM Punk is expected to make his long awaited UFC debut on fight card.
