Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting by with a little help from his friends.
Two months after he had open-heart surgery, Ahnold made his first public appearance over the weekend at a charity event at his L.A. home to benefit After-School All-Stars, his nonprofit that provides free after-school programs for kids. He was supported by his pals, including The Expendables co-stars Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, and they all stayed with the Wild West theme, showing off cowboy hats, rustic old rifles, and a lot of grit. (A fourth Expendables is in the works for early 2019.)

A rep for Schwarzenegger tells Yahoo Entertainment that while the organizers are still tallying how much money was made at the event, they can “safely say we raised $2.1 million,” which deserves a big ole “yeehaw.”

Sly gave us the answer to a question we were wondering about: How is Schwarzenegger doing after his unexpected open-heart surgery procedure? He said the guy who was also his co-star in Escape Plan is “unstoppable” and “looking healthier than ever!”
We saw a little bit of that in action last week when Schwarzenegger shared a video from the gym. He said the “surgery comeback is all about reps, reps, reps” and made it clear that he is going hard: “Second workout of the day!”

Other photos snapped at the After-School All-Stars benefit, which included a charity poker game, showed Schwarzenegger smiling and laughing.
Had a great day yesterday as one of the sponsors of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s annual charity poker tournament at his home. Schwarzenegger looked comfy in his Western attire — the event had a similar theme last year — and he should get used to it. Earlier this year, Amazon announced that he’ll star in its “event series” called Outrider, which is set in the 1800s and is a “dark and dangerous thriller about a deputy hunting down an outlaw in the wilderness of Oklahoma Indian Territory.” He’ll play a federal marshal who came to America from Europe as a child — a way to work in Schwarzenegger’s famous accent. According to his spokesperson, production on the Outrider series hasn’t been affected by the star’s heart surgery.
As for his BFF status with Sly, it wasn’t always that way. Schwarzenegger said in 2014 that they “hated each other in the ’80s because we were both in the same business; we wanted to outdo each other. It was all-out war. It was a competition of who has the most muscles, who kills the most people onscreen, who kills in the most unique way, who makes more money at the box office. Finally, in the ’90s we became kind of friends, and ever since then we have been friends. … We were mature and smart enough to say ‘Let’s stop this,’ and then we started doing movies together and have had a great time working together.”
And doing good together.
