Adrian is desperate to find a way out of West Ham in January after losing his first-team spot to Joe Hart.

The Spanish goalkeeper’s only appearance this season came in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Bolton in September, with Hart having played every minute in the Premier League despite a stuttering start to his loan spell.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic had urged Adrian to stay and fight for his place after the club triggered a two-year extension option on his contract during the summer but the 30-year-old is concerned that more time on the London Stadium bench will end his hopes of being named in Spain’s World Cup squad.

"I just have to keep on fighting, showing the manager that Adrian is still a good ‘keeper.

"And well, if I don’t get enough chances, [I will] try to find the best solution for both sides. Like any player I’m happy on the pitch, playing matches. And at the age I’m at, I think I have to play.

"If the situation remains as is, there’s a transfer window in December, and after that one, there’s one in the summer. I’ll just have one year left on my contract and we’d have to reach an agreement because it’s clear that I’m not happy with the way things are.

"I have not received the chances I feel I’ve earned with my performances, but sometimes football is that way and I’ll have to keep on fighting."

Adrian said that he would be open to playing in another country having already gained experience in Spain and England, adding: "A footballer’s career is very short and the way we enjoy it is by playing every Sunday, wherever the opportunity presents itself, where you feel loved…

"It’s clear, after playing in Spain and four seasons here your merits are there and your name starts to get recognized, but well I have to wait until the transfer window opens and also to wait to see what happens here, if things change or not."

Crystal Palace and Newcastle both expressed an interest in Adrian during the summer transfer window and the former could return in January having failed to recruit a replacement for Steve Mandanda.
