UFC's Marc Ratner Heads New IMMAF Committee

The Ultimate Fighting Championship recently threw its support behind the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, but they’re now taking it a step further with UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner heading up the IMMAF’s newly formed Technical Committee.

The purpose of IMMAF is to further the development and recognition of the sport of mixed martial arts, enabling international competition through the organization of national MMA federations around the world.

The Technical Committee will have the task of researching and analyzing best practice in the area of MMA regulations for the purpose of future IMMAF recommendations and rule sets.

“I’m very honored to work with the IMMAF and help with formulating guidelines and instituting the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts throughout the world,” said Ratner about his appointment. “As the Chairman of the Technical Committee our mission will be to have the same rules and medical standards wherever MMA is happening.”

Ratner has spent several years helping the UFC gain sanctioning for mixed martial arts around the United States and other areas around the globe, and when the promotion operates and event in an area without a sanctioning body, Ratner makes sure those events are operated under the same fashion as if there were a sanctioning body.

He also spent more than 20 years with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, becoming one of the most respected and influential executive directors in the United States.

“We are excited to have Mr. Ratner onboard as chairman of the Technical committee”, said IMMAF president August Wallén. “Researching best practice and eventually formulating IMMAF regulations is one of the most important tasks ahead, and one we take very seriously. There is no one out there who is better suited than Marc Ratner to head up this work and we are very grateful for his commitment.”
