UFC free fight: Josh Emmett edges Calvin Kattar in five-round war

Josh Emmett is no stranger to getting a little extra cash on top of his fight purses.

Whether it’s a finish or an exciting fireworks display, Emmett is always in the run for a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. And that was no different in his last outing when he stepped in the cage with Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC on ESPN 37 in June.

The two featherweights went back and forth in an evenly contested matchup that had the fans on the edge of their seat. In the end, Emmett did enough to get the nod from the majority of the judges to win a split decision.

You can watch his five-round war with Kattar in the video above.

Emmett, (18-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) is running hot on a five-fight win streak. On his current run, he has defeated Michael Johnson, Mirsad Bektic, Shane Burgos, Dan Ige and Kattar.

Rodriguez (14-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) is coming off a first-round stoppage of former title challenger Brian Ortega in July. He’s 3-1 in his past four fights. His lone loss during that stretch came against former champion Max Holloway, a fight he lost by decision.
