The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Newark, N.J. on Saturday night for UFC on FOX 18: Johnson vs. Bader.

Those in attendance witnessed Johnson finish Bader in the opening round to solidify his position as a top contender in the light heavyweight division. Bader quickly tried to get the fight to the ground and found himself on the bottom with Johnson on top landing punches. Bader was rendered unconscious, and his five-fight winning streak snapped.

“Big” Ben Rothwell put the top of the heavyweight division on notice when he submitted Josh Barnett in the co-main event. As Barnett worked to get the fight to the ground in the second frame, Rothwell applied what he called a gogo choke. Barnett was forced to tap out to a legitimate submission for the first time in his 19-year mixed martial arts career.
