UFC on FOX 11 Attendance and Live Gate: Record UFC on FOX Gate in Orlando

The UFC returned to Florida on Saturday night for UFC on FOX 11: Werdum vs. Browne at the Amway Center in Orlando. The promotion has been to the state before with UFC president Dana White generally coming away disappointed.

That was not so on Saturday night. White was more than happy not only with his fighters, but also with Orlando’s response to the UFC coming to town.

“Tonight’s gate is the second highest in Amway (Center) history,” he declared at the post-fight press conference. “The highest is (the band) the Eagles. They beat us by $30,000. That’s a stinger right there. I will stop talking (expletive) about Florida now.

“The attendance tonight was 17,000. The gate was $1.65 million; the biggest Fox gate ever.”

The card featured a No. 1 contender bout in the heavyweight division with Fabricio Werdum solidifying his shot at champion Cain Velasquez by dominating Travis Browne for the duration of their five-round fight.

Donald Cerrone provided the usual fireworks on the FOX-televised main card, mounting a come-from-behind victory over Edson Barboza, dropping the Brazilian with a jab and then choking him out.

With a solid card and an outstanding response from fans in Orlando, White is definitely singing a different tune about Florida.

“I’ll come back next weekend. I’m in; I’m sold.”
