UFC 202 Fighter Bonuses: The Diaz-McGregor Rematch Earns Fight of the Night

UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor 2 took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. Not only did the main event rematch deliver, the fight card also featured several highlight-reel finishes.

The fight promotion announced the fighter bonuses following the event and there were no surprises. Diaz, McGregor, Anthony Johnson and Donald Cerrone earned the $50,000 performance incentives.

Fight of the Night was awarded to the main event. Diaz dispatched McGregor in the second round of their first meeting in March, and the rematch couldn't have been more different. McGregor dropped Diaz in the opening round and in the third. Diaz weathered the early storm to dominate the end of the third frame. After fifteen minutes of back-and-forth fighting, the judges scored the fight for McGregor by majority decision.

Johnson earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his 13-second knockout of Glover Teixeira in the fight card's co-main event. Teixeira requested the bout, but likely regretted it when he woke up in the center of the Octagon. He pressured Johnson and ended up on the wrong end of a fight-finishing uppercut.

“Cowboy” Cerrone has looked stellar since his move from the lightweight division up to the 170-pound weight class earlier this year. On Saturday, Cerrone emerged as a contender when he finished eighth-ranked Rick Story in the second round. He landed a combination to the body and head that ended with a kick to face of Story. Story turned and tried to cover, but Cerrone delivered a knee the ended Story's night.

UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor 2 featured seven knockouts, three decisions, and two submission finishes.
