UFC 197: Jones vs. Saint Preux Gate and Attendance from Las Vegas

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for UFC 197: Jones vs. Saint Preux on Saturday night.

The UFC has held numerous events at MGM's arena on the strip, but UFC 197 featured the return of former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Having been out of the game for more than a year dealing with legal issues, it was a big night for Jones, and a big night for the UFC.

11,352 spectators attended the event generating gate receipts totally $2,300,000.

Those in attendance witnessed Jones move a step closer to regaining the title that was stripped of him by the fight promotion. “Bones” soundly defeated Ovince Saint Preux by unanimous decision in the fight card's main event to capture the 205-pound interim title.

In the co-main event, flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson defended his belt for a record setting eighth time. “Mighty Mouse” handed Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo his first career loss, and logged a first-round finish.

UFC 197: Jones vs. Saint Preux featured three knockouts, one submission, and eight decisions.
